In this interview with Melissa Doyle and David Koch on Sunrise, the Prime Minister discussed a number of ideas from the 2020 Summit, including a single national seamless economy, the development of a bionic eye, a medical records 'Healthbook' and a preventative health agency, carbon neutral buildings and creative visual and performing arts as part of the national curriculum. Mr Rudd also spoke about security and the Olympic Torch relay.

Australia 2020 Steering Committee - 14 April
In this media release, the Prime Minister passed on his congratulations to Ms Cate Blanchett on the recent birth of her third son and announced that Dr Julianne Schultz, an accomplished author and academic, will be added as an additional co-chair at the Australia 2020 Summit. Selected by the 10 member independent Steering Committee, chaired by Professor Glyn Davis, the 1000 individuals were chosen from nearly 8,000 very high quality nominations. Mr Rudd congratulated those invited to participate and encouraged every Australian to contribute their ideas and ambitions to the 2020 Summit by making a submission.

Media Release - Australia 2020 Summit Steering Committee - 26 Feb
In this media release, the Prime Minister announced the 11 leading Australians that will form the Independent Steering Committee for the Australia 2020 Summit in April 2008. The Committee will be chaired by Glyn Davis, with each of the panel members identified to lead one of the 10 key discussion areas of the Summit, as well as assisting with the selection of up to 100 participants for each of the discussion areas. Participants will be drawn from business, academia, community and industrial organisations, the media and include a number of individual eminent Australians. Short biographies on each of the panel members are provided in the release.

Australia 2020 Summit - 3 Feb
The Prime Minister announced the Australian 2020 Summit to be held at Parliament House in Canberra on 19 and 20 of April 2008. The Summit aims to bring together some of the best and brightest brains from across the country to tackle the long term challenges confronting Australia's future - challenges which require long-term responses from the nation beyond the usual three year electoral cycle. Details of the ten critical areas that will be discussed are outlined along with the channels for involvement for the Australian public.
