Participants

These are the Australia 2020 Summit participants, listed by stream. All participants have formally accepted invitations and have registered to attend.

There were 32 formal declines. As people declined, other nominees (who had not been sent invitations) were contacted by the Secretariat and asked if they were able to attend. If they agreed to attend, they were then asked to register on the Australia 2020 Summit registration site.

These “new” invitees were on “reserve” lists, selected by the Steering Committee.

A number of invited guests such as State Governors, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, Departmental Secretaries and State Opposition Leaders will attend the Summit.

The Leader of the Opposition, Premiers and Chief Ministers, the President of the Australian Local Government Association, the Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Secretary of the Department of Treasury, the Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, and the Chief Statistician are able to move between streams, according to their interests, therefore their names do not appear on the participant lists.

Youth Summit “ambassadors” have been added to the streams, as have media competition winners.

The co-convenors of the Summit are the Prime Minister, the Honourable Kevin Rudd MP, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, Professor Glyn Davis AC.
